Barry Comprehensive School’s Under 14 Rugby Squad were delighted to receive their special tour kit as they prepare for their trip to Barcelona.

The squad of 35 boys leave for Spain on Wednesday 5th April and will really look the part on their challenging tour. Barry based solicitors CJCH have provided the team with T Shirts and hoodies, whilst Merthyr based Hoover Ltd have made a large contribution towards the Jerseys. The group have also been donated a set of polo shirts to wear to certain events by South Wales Monuments based in Caerphilly. Continue reading

Teams from schools across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan took part in the challenge at Cardiff and Vale College (CAVC) and at the International Centre for Aerospace Training (ICAT) at Rhoose.  Continue reading

On 1st July, Barry Comprehensive School’s Team Sri Lanka 2017 will be departing for the Gampaha district of Sri Lanka.  Instead of heading for the beach, this group of sixth form students and teachers will be volunteering their time to teach in a local school and visit orphanages, a deaf and blind school and various other institutions that house vulnerable people.

Council Cabinet approves proposal to transform secondary education in Barry

On 6 March 2017, the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Cabinet determined the proposal to transform secondary education in Barry by closing the existing single sex English medium Barry Comprehensive and Bryn Hafren Comprehensive schools and establishing two new mixed-sex, 11 – 18 English medium comprehensive schools on the current sites of Barry Comprehensive and Bryn Hafren Comprehensive schools from September 2018.

On 15th February 2017, the Duke of Edinburgh boys set out on a scenic walk in the wooden valley and limestone landscape along the waterfalls of the river Mellte.  Although the day started with torrential rain, the spirit amongst the 18 Year 10 students (led by Miss Rowe and accompanied by Mr Fitzpatrick, Mr Hawkins and Mrs Davies) was high, and the weather gods soon rewarded the enthusiastic group with drier conditions.
