On behalf of my staff, I would like to welcome you to Barry Comprehensive School. We are a very successful 11-18 community school, for boys up to 16 with a co-educational sixth form.  There is a warm and welcoming ethos, which is a very important part of our identity.

A happy student will achieve their full potential, and Barry Comprehensive is all about, creating the ‘Opportunity to Succeed’ for every child.  We set high standards, academically and socially.  We want our students to become successful, confident and caring adults, able to take an active part in society.

We encourage our students to have high aspirations towards future careers; the quality of teaching and learning is very good and leads to excellent results for the students. There are also very high expectations of behaviour, creating a calm and happy school environment.  Everyone is valued as an individual and there is a wide range of curricular choice, enabling talents and creativity to be identified and nurtured.

We are very proud of the warm relationships and the involvement of all students in some form of community or charitable service.  We arrange enrichment activities to engage and motivate students.  There are fantastic opportunities for students to visit others schools in Sri Lanka and Italy, as well as other educational fieldtrips to Iceland and Spain.  We particularly value the tremendous support of parents, recognising their key role in the learning process.

New students and their parents are encouraged to look at our prospectus on our website and to arrange a visit to our school. This is the best way of really seeing what our school has to offer. I look forward to meeting you.
