Senior Learning Mentor David Williams addressing Year 7 students

Staff at Barry Comprehensive were delighted to welcome new students in Year 7 and Year 12 to the school last week.

The Year 7 students looked very smart as they took their places in assembly.  Headteacher Gerard McNamara welcomed the boys and outlined the challenges and opportunities ahead of them as they work towards their GCSE examinations in 2022.

Senior Learning Mentor David Williams spoke to the year group, explaining the high expectations the school has for attendance and behaviour, before sending the new students to meet their form teachers and start their lessons.

This year also saw a large number of students choosing to continue their studies in the Sixth Form.  In addition to our own successful GCSE students and those from other local schools, staff were excited to welcome international students from Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Mexico and Ethiopia.
