Students at Barry Comprehensive School have been given the opportunity to participate in a series of workshops involving music and drama.

The UCAN project allowed pupils a chance to develop their literacy, communication, planning and group presentation skills.  The sessions were delivered by experienced and qualified instructors, some of whom are professional actors that have appeared in well-known programmes including Hollyoaks and Coronation Street!

Students were able to demonstrate their musical abilities by learning to play some songs on the Ukulele.  They also performed drama pieces including ‘The Incomplete Works of William Shakespeare’, which was set in Barry, and a historical account of Welsh Folklore.

At the end of the project a performance was given to parents and supporters of the school.  All of the pupils had a very worthwhile, enjoyable and interesting experience.
