Barry Comprehensive School sixth form students are celebrating another outstanding set of A Level results.

Headteacher Gerard McNamara said, ‘Teachers and governors are delighted with the A Level results. The overall A Level and equivalent qualification pass rate of 98% reflects the dedication and hard work of the students. Every student who chose to continue their studies has secured a place, with 95% going to their first choice of university. We wish all of our students every success in the future.’

Particular individual achievements include:

  • Matthew Ireland achieved grades A* A* A* A (as well as an extra-curricular AS Level in Further Mathematics) and will be studying Physics at Cardiff University
  • Thomas Cosgrove achieved grades A A A B and will be studying Biological Sciences at the University of Exeter
  • Thomas Jones achieved grades A A A B and will be studying Law at the University of Exeter
  • Liam Merry achieved grades A A A C and will be studying Geology at the University of Southampton
  • Harry Lambert achieved grades A A B B and will be studying Law at the University of Exeter
  • Mitchell Thorngate achieved grades A B B B and will be studying Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Bath
  • Mitchell Pierce achieved grades A B B C and will be studying Mathematics at Swansea University
  • Verity Campbell achieved grades A A B B and will be studying Drama & Theatre Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London
  • Louis Clemo, George Cooper and Conor McBride all received unconditional offers and will be studying Geology at Royal Holloway, University of London
