Students from four primary schools and Barry Comprehensive received music tuition from Upbeat Music and Arts Company

On Friday 8th July Barry Comprehensive School were pleased to host a musical performance as part of transition. A total of 4 primary schools along with a group of year 7 students received music tuition from Upbeat Music and Arts Company

The primary schools worked for six weeks learning a range of disciplines in Samba, Tiago and African drumming, whilst the year 7’s mastered the art of Gamelan percussion. They then all came together to give a great performance which was enjoyed by parents and staff.

Sue Neilson Pupil Support Coordinator from Barry Comprehensive School said “What a great experience for all who took part and a fantastic way to bring the schools together. We would like to thank pupils and staff from the following primary schools, Gladstone, Holton, Palmerston and Jenner Park, as well as the year 7’s and staff at Barry Comprehensive School. Also a big thanks to Upbeat for their hard work and dedication to this project.”

This project was put together and funded by Barry Communities First and over seen by Holly Morgan, Transition Officer at Communities First.
