Barry Comprehensive School are thrilled with a superb performance from their Public Speaking Team who won the first round of the ESU-Churchill Competition last term.
The talented trio consisted of: Mark Williams and Rhys Powell (Year 9) and Daley Chapman (Year 10), who faced tough competition against teams from St Cyres and Westbourne School for a place in the next round.
Rhys Powell, speaking at St Cyres School, confidently shared his view that greed is a destructive and reductive quality for an individual to possess in society today; although, he argued, greed would have once served a purpose for survival.
Miss Thomas, the team’s coach said, “Taking part in the ESU-Churchill Public Speaking Competition has been a truly rewarding and enjoyable experience for the students. They are a real credit to the school and we are looking forward to competing in the Regional Finals in March.”
