SXTO – a performance at Barry Comprehensive School

Year 9 students at Barry Comprehensive recently watched SXTO, a theatre project by Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch, which explores the reality behind the current headlines about young people and sexting.

Work on SXTO began in 2010 as a collaboration between Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch, author Bethan Gwanas and director Angharad Lee. The script was recently revamped by Bethan Gwanas to ensure that the latest terminology and digital technology is referred to during the performance.

Mark Bishop and the Vale Youth Offending Service funded this performance on behalf of the Vale Learning and Skills Directorate with the intention of ensuring that young adults in the Vale are aware of the serious problems that can occur when people send sexual content on mobile phones.

Ms Smith, Barry Comprehensive School’s PSE Coordinator, said, “The performance was excellent, it was engaging and covered current issues associated with ‘sexting’. The pupils asked lots of questions at the end of the performance and found the whole experience enjoyable and informative”.
