Barry Comprehensive School was proud to join schools and offices across the UK last Friday to support the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Students, parents and staff contributed cakes which Welsh Baccalaureate students sold to eager students and staff at break time. Many staff baked and submitted a mouth-watering selection of cakes to the Cake Competition with judges deciding that Mrs William’s Lemon Cake was the staff winner. The Star Baker Award went to Mrs Vidler, grandmother of year 12 student Joshua Bell, for her famous Triple Chocolate Cake. Mrs Lewis made the ‘show stopper’ cake which was the subject of the very popular ‘guess the weight of the cake’ competition. Congratulations to Mrs McCarthy on winning the cake.

The school was delighted to welcome guests from the British Legion and the school governors to the Learning Resource Centre to join in with the fundraising.

The morning was a great success and raised £250 for Macmillan Cancer Support, a very worthwhile charity.
