On 11th June, 60 Year 9 students from Barry Comprehensive School participated in a Duke of Edinburgh taster walk.

The group spent the afternoon exploring Pontneddfechan Waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons National Park.  The aim of the trip was for pupils to gain further insight into elements of the DofE Award.

The boys showed great motivation, determination and team work throughout the afternoon in order to complete the challenging walk.  A highlight of the trip was definitely reaching Sgwd yr Eira.  The boys had the unique opportunity to walk behind the waterfall and were given time to take in and photograph their picturesque surroundings.

Duke of Edinburgh leaders, Miss Rowe, Mr Hutton, Miss Bowkett and Mr Gamble, were extremely impressed with the boys and are looking forward to beginning the DofE Award with the new group in September.
