Barry Comprehensive School’s Under 18 Basketball team won the Cardiff and Vale finals trophy for the third year in a row

Two basketball teams from Barry Comprehensive School reached the Cardiff and Vale finals held at the House of Sport, Cardiff City.

The Year 10 team played against Porthcawl in a thrilling final only to be beaten by a determined Porthcawl side, losing by 10 points in the final quarter. The Year 10 team acquitted themselves superbly, and with boys regularly attending training with Mr Cole, they should be a force again next season.

The Under 18 team, consisting of students from years 10 , 11, 12 and 13, played against Cwm Rhymni School and ran out deserved winners by 82 points to 45. Led by Nico Wilson in his last year in school the team took a healthy lead to ensure all players could be used to good effect especially after Nico went off injured in the 3rd quarter. Joe Harding rallied the troops to win comfortably, assisted by Christian Eder and Scott Townsend, to win the trophy for the third time in a row.
