On the 10th and 11th December, the school hall was transformed into the magical land of OZ for this year’s Christmas pantomime “The Yellow Brick Road”.
The script (written by Mr Ian Piekielniak) was loosely based upon “The Wizard of Oz” and featured all of the original characters from the film, including Dorothy (Miss K Walters) Scarecrow (Harry Morgan Grant) Tin man (Joel DeGaetano) Lion (Tom Bowen and Jamie Brown) and the Wicked Witch (Mrs A Ellis) as well as some special appearances from Snow White (Mrs J Lander) and Batman (Daniel Broadbent).
The performance played to two sold out audiences with many commenting that “that was the best yet” and “It was funnier than the one in Cardiff” and another stating “I saw Wicked in London last week and this (The Yellow Brick Road) was much better”.
Once again, the Drama Department couldn’t be more proud of all the performers on stage and the technical team behind it. Putting together a show like this in just TWO weeks requires dedication, commitment and exceptional teamwork, which everyone involved had in abundance!
The school pantomime has become an annual event over the last 10 years and is one that both staff and pupils look forward to. On behalf of the cast and crew of “The Yellow Brick Road” we would like to thank everyone who came along and lent their support during the week. We would also like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a happy New Year!
