Presentation Evening 2014

Barry Comprehensive School’s annual Presentation Evening took place on 12 June 2014. The ceremony celebrates academic success across the entire curriculum and also includes awards for outstanding contributions to the school, excellent attendance and for sporting achievement.

Mr Phil Steele, BBC broadcaster, former rugby player with Newport RFC and a former teacher entertained and inspired as guest speaker, presenting awards to the students. Mr Steele informed the students and parents that his first televised broadcast came when he was 39 years old highlighting how you have to keep working hard to get the rewards that you want. Joining Mr Steele were a host of special guests who return every year to award significant prizes to the students, many of them having given years of service to the school.

The Head Boy and Girl also gave an overview of the successes of the school this year. Again students are accessing the top universities to complete courses across Britain. One student will be attending Oxford University to study medicine.

As a school we place great value on the close partnerships between school and community. Presentation Evening provides the opportunity for us to share and celebrate our success.
