On the 21st September, Barry Comprehensive School celebrated European Day of Languages as part of the school’s wider celebration of all things International.
During the day, Year 7 students took part in lots of different activities including music, cooking and art, all with an international theme. Our international students in the Sixth Form also joined in and gave taster lessons in their own languages, including German, Italian, Norwegian, Slovakian and Spanish. Taster lessons were also taught by teachers from the Modern Foreign Languages Department as well as colleagues from other departments with a passion for languages. These lessons included Japanese by Ms Roche and Spanish from Mr Peacock and Mr Tresilian. Everyone was pleased to welcome back Mr Norman Pereira who came out of retirement to teach Spanish and said how he wishes he could come back more often! A quiz, with prizes, was held to round off the day.
Miss Evans would like to thank everyone for their support.
