Alun Cairns MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Wales, visited Barry Comprehensive School with Colonel Nick Beard, Chief Executive of the Reserve Forces’ & Cadets’ Association for Wales on Thursday 4 September.

Mr. Cairns, whose duties mean he is very involved with the NATO Summit at Celtic Manor, was keen to canvas the views of 6th Formers on the Summit and NATO in general.  Continue reading

At the end of term, Barry Comprehensive School hosted a visit from David Ocheing, a teacher from Lwanda Primary School in Kenya.

The two schools have worked together over three years in a variety of connecting classroom projects that have been funded by the British Council.

It’s late in August and, once again, a cohort of students arrived at Barry Comprehensive School to receive their GCSE results.

82% of students gained 5 or more A* – C grades, with high grades achieved across all subject areas, including Maths and English.

The Barry Sixth Form Valedictory Dinner is one of the highlights of the school calendar.

The evening brings students and their teachers together to celebrate the end of their secondary education. Over a hundred and fifty students and staff from both Bryn Hafren Comprehensive and Barry Comprehensive joined together to look back at their school days and indulge in a spot of nostalgia.
