Cardiff & Vale School Basketball Association u14s Champions with coach Mr Coles
Barry Comprehensive School’s Year 9 basketball squad faced Cowbridge Comprehensive in the Cardiff & Vale School Basketball Association u14s final held at Cardiff Metropolitan University on the 25th of April.
After winning all of their group matches, and beating Cardiff High in the Semi’s, the squad was determined to finish the job. Continue reading

Daley Chapman, Deputy Vale Youth Mayor and Member of the Vale Youth Cabinet
Barry Comprehensive School’s Daley Chapman, currently the Vale Deputy Youth Mayor, was recently re-elected by members of the Vale Youth Forum to serve on the Youth Cabinet for a second term.
Daley is currently in Year 12 and studying History, Film and Theatre Studies at A Level, along with the Welsh Baccalaureate.
Joining Daley in the Youth Cabinet are students from Bryn Hafren, Cowbridge, St Cyres, St Richard Gwyn and Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg. Continue reading
Cadet Sergeant Rhys Horton
Rhys Horton, currently in Year 13 at Barry Comprehensive School, will be heading to Windsor on the 19 May for a very important event.
Unlike the thousands of well-wishers hoping just to catch a glimpse of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Rhys has an invitation to share in part of the Royal Wedding Day!
Rhys earned his invitation in recognition of his commitment to sustaining high academic standards at school and for his work with the Royal Air Force Air Cadets in Cardiff & the Vale of Glamorgan. Continue reading

Mr Coles congratulating Sam on receiving his certificate and headphones
Since returning from The Big Bang Fair, Head of Year 7 Mr Williams was contacted by Alex at DOW Chemicals.
Alex explained how impressed they were with one of our pupils, Sam Williams in 7RD. Sam worked on changing gaskets on pipe work.

It is with great sadness that we report the death of former student David Gent.
We offer our deepest sympathy to David’s family and friends.
David completed his GCSEs and A Levels at BCS. He was a very kind young man who went on to study Primary and Outdoor Education at Worcester University. David was a caring and loyal friend to fellow students and well liked by staff.
David’s funeral will be held at Thornhill Crematorium on 4 May at 3:30pm. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Using X-Box controllers for science!
On Thursday the 19th of April, Barry Comprehensive School teachers Mr Coles and Miss DeMott took high achieving Year 7 and 8 scientists to the STEM Cymru Big Bang Fair at the Parc Y Scarlets.

Auschwitz in the snow
In February, two Barry Comprehensive School Year 12 students, Seren Ewington and Cain Gannon, with Ms.Bertheux, took part in the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Lessons From Auschwitz project.
This began with an orientation seminar at the Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel, where students heard the testimony of holocaust survivor Eva Clarke. Continue reading
