Barry Comprehensive School is delighted to announce that our GCSE results this year are the highest the school has ever attained, with 50% of our students achieving at least 5 A*-C grade GCSEs including English and Maths, and 87% of students achieving at least 5 A* -C grades.

Students, staff and governors have all worked tremendously hard this year to make such a considerable improvement in our academic attainment. A big factor in our success has also been the constant support of parents, who always insist on high standards for our boys and regular homework being completed to a high standard. Continue reading

At the end of term, three students from Barry Comprehensive School’s Woodworking Club presented country park ranger Mel Stewart with a stool made from logs the boys collected from the park in April.

The three students had split the logs into smaller sections and manufactured the stool components using only hand tools and traditional techniques. Continue reading

A selected group of 12 Year 7 students represented the school last week on a Mathematics Mentoring visit to Dow Corning in Barry.

The students carried out a number of exciting mathematical activities looking at addition, subtraction, multiplication, perimeter and fractions and how they apply in the ‘real world’. Continue reading
