Postcards from Sri Lanka 2015

Barry Comprehensive School’s Team Lanka have just completed their first week in Sri Lanka. So far they have offered support in an orphanage, visited several schools where they delivered lessons and activities like face painting and sports, visited local sites of interest and even made friends with the elephants!

On 11th June, 60 Year 9 students from Barry Comprehensive School participated in a Duke of Edinburgh taster walk.

The group spent the afternoon exploring Pontneddfechan Waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons National Park.  The aim of the trip was for pupils to gain further insight into elements of the DofE Award. Continue reading

Students from Barry Comprehensive School recently took part in a smoking intervention program called ‘ASSIST’.

The students, from Year 8, had agreed to attend the two day event to train as peer supporters after being identified by other students in their year as people whom they ‘respected’, ‘looked up to’ and regarded as ‘good leaders in sports and other group activities. Continue reading
