On the weekend of the 25th and 26th November, two Barry Comprehensive School GCSE Art students attended a workshop with the artist Heloise Godfrey-Talbot at Ffotogallery at the Turner House in Penarth.

Successful days in the field

The village of Horton

On Thursday 16th and Friday 17th November the Year 12 Geography and Year 13 Geology groups travelled from Barry Comprehensive School to the Gower in order to collect data for their coursework investigations.

The Year 12 (AS) Geography students spent the first day collecting data about the glacial sediments (deposited during the last ice age) at Rhossili and Three Cliffs Bay.

The Art Department is delighted that Barry Comprehensive year 10 students Danny Ashby and Joshua Garland attended a workshop last weekend at Ffotogallery, at the Turner House in Penarth.

The ‘Drawn from Nature’ arts project was organised by Criw Celf/Arts Active Cardiff, on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd October. Cath Lewis is a visual artist who is a textile specialist but with a practice that encompasses a wide range of media and techniques. Barry Comprehensive School was proud to join schools and offices across the UK last Friday to support the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Staff contributed cakes, which were served with tea and coffee by Welsh Baccalaureate students in the Learning Resource Centre.

In 2015 Barry Comprehensive pupils had the fantastic experience of being part of the Gothia Cup that is held annually in Gothenburg Sweden. It is the biggest Youth football tournament in the world, playing host to hundreds of teams from over 80 countries and the standard of the players is a Premier League scouts dream!
